Fwd: Summer Adventure Camps

Hi everyone,

Rivorton Scouts (Fredericton area groups) are hosting a series of
summer camps for Scouts (and non-scouts) this summer. They look like
very good camps. I'm sending Zane to the sailing camp.

If you are looking for reasonably priced summer camp options these
look like they will be fun.

The contact information is in the attachment.

Survival Camp

Hi everyone,

Next weekend, June 24-26, is our final end of year camp. This will be a combination canoe camp and survival camp. Our plan is to canoe from Keswick landing into the Saint John river and camp, normally, on an island Friday night. Please RSVP by Monday if your son is attending.

Saturday, after noon, we will be going into "survival mode". This will basically mean that the boys will only have the supplies in their emergency kits to use for the rest of the camp. We will fish and gather edible plants (as possible) and build shelters on Saturday night. They will not have access to their camping supplies or additional food unless it is really necessary. This activity is meant to be a close simulation of a survival situation. We will ensure that all youth have access to emergency supplies, first aid, and water as required.

Here are the details:
Drop off:
We will meet at Keswick Landing at 6pm on Friday. We will proceed from there to the launch site at 6:15.

Pickup:
Pickup will be at the northside green, in Fredericton, at 2pm on Sunday.

Map:
Here is a map of our route:

Food:
The boys should arrive fed on Friday night. They are also responsible for bringing all other snacks and food required, including:
  • Friday night snack (suggestion: trail mix, chips, hotdogs)
  • Saturday morning breakfast (suggestion: instant oatmeal, peanut butter & bread)
  • Saturday morning snack (suggestion: trail mix, granola bars)
  • Saturday lunch (suggestion: sandwiches)
  • Juice or water
Supplies:
All supplies should be in water resistant bags. (not garbage bags)

Wear:
  • Shorts or pants (depending on weather)
  • Sandals
  • socks & underwear
  • Shirt
  • sun hat
Bring:
  • 2 pairs of socks
  • 1 pair of underwear
  • 1 pair shorts
  • Bathing suit
  • Towel
  • Pants
  • 1 long sleeve shirt & 1 short sleave
  • 1 sweater
  • Spring coat
  • strong bug spray
  • suntan lotion
  • tooth brush & paste & soap
  • 2L water bottle (full)
  • bowl, fork, spoon, cup
  • knife
  • sleeping bag & mat
  • flash light and extra batteries
  • TP
  • Safety kits!

If your son does not have a safety kit, the details are here:

This will be very rewarding for the guys and they will remember it! If you have any questions or concerns please call or write.

RE: BBQ tonight

Don’t forget your water guns. Hopefully there will be some time towards the end of the BBQ to have a bit of good ole wet fun.

Subject: BBQ tonight

Hi everyone,

Since it is raining, the family BBQ tonight is being relocated to the church hall. The event will start at 6pm and we will have food flowing at 6:30. We will also be doing the moving up ceremony after the BBQ.

Our registrars will be onsite to process early registration. This is a good chance to save some money on next year's fees.
